Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's men's basketball team defeating visiting DeSales 68-58 in the opening round of the 2011 Marymount Tip-Off Tournament on Friday night.  The Saints remain undefeated on the season and face Springfield in the tournament finals on Saturday.

Jesse Konadu led the Saints (2-0) with 22 points while Antonio Rouse added 14 and Reed Scott chipped in 11.  Scott also led all players with seven rebounds and three blocked shots.

Falling behind 3-0 in the opening minute, Marymount rallied back behind six-straight points by Rouse to take the lead and hold it the rest of the game.  The Saints would lead by as many as 12 in the opening frame before taking a 25-17 lead going into halftime.

Coming out of the break, MU trailed by less than double-digits just three times and no fewer than three possessions at any time.  A late rally by the Bulldogs cut the deficit from 15 to nine with 25 seconds remaining but couldn't get any closer.

Impressive from the floor, the Saints hot 54.1 percent as a team with seven players eclipsing the .500 mark from the field.  Marymount also took care of business on the charity stripe, converting 24-of-28 shots from the free throw line on the night.

Brett Moyer led the Bulldogs with 16 points while Bob Zanneo added 10.

Marymount advances to face Springfield in the championship game on Saturday at 8 p.m.  The Pride topped Eastern Mennonite 90-81 in their tournament opener.  Fans can follow the action live by logging on to http://muweb.marymount.edu/~jmessman/basketball/xlive.htm for live stats and www.ustream.tv/channel/marymount-basketball for live video streaming.
