Jarvis Ragland powers Stout to win over Macalester

WAVERLY, Iowa (November 18, 2011) - Jarvis Ragland (So, Milwaukee) scored 10 points in the first four minutes of the second half as UW-Stout went on to a 56-35 season-opening win over Macalester College in the first game of the Wartburg College Tournament.

Ragland's 10 points powered the Blue Devils in a 12-3 run to open the second half as Stout held a slim 18-17 halftime lead. Ragland, in his first game as a Blue Devil, finished with a game-high 23 points, connecting on 9-of-14 from the field, hitting one 3-pointer and draining 4-of-6 free throws. Ragland also finished with six rebounds.

Jay Higgins (So, Maple Grove, Minn) finished with 11 points and a game-high seven rebounds.

Pierce Peters scored 14 points to lead Macalester.

Stout will play Wartburg College Saturday, Nov. 19 at 4 p.m. in the tournament championship game. The Knights defeated Crown College, 72-53, in the other semi-final game.
