Late rally sends WNE past Cadets

SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – Norwich University placed a trio of players in double figures despite a 67-55 loss to Western New England Nov. 18.

The Cadets, dropping to 0-2 on the young 2011-12 season, used a late surge in the latter stages of the first half for a 30-24 halftime advantage. Coach Paul Booth's team continued to hold the lead all way into the final five minutes of the game. Western New England (2-0) managed to overtake its guests for good with an 18-2 stretch over the final 4:53.

Junior guard Josh Cabrera (Providence, R.I.) tallied 13 points to top the Maroon and Gold scoring column. Junior guard Ryan Williams (Dallas, Texas) and sophomore guard Everett Ramirez (Boyle Heights, Calif.) added 10 points each. Williams also distributed a team-best four assists. Senior forward Antonio Davis (Albany, N.Y.) narrowly missed a double-double scoring nine points and pulling down nine rebounds.

NU continues play in the Western New England tournament Saturday, Nov. 19. The Cadets take on Sage College in the consolation championship game at 1 p.m.
