BUFFALO, NY - The Medaille College men's basketball team looked like they were in midseason form as they dismantled Geneseo State (76-56) in their season opener this evening at the Sullivan Center.

The Mavs went (14 for 28) from the floor in both halves of the game in what was a very strong effort from the entire team.  The Mavs knocked down ten three pointers and were (10 of 14) from the charity stripe in the win.

Leading the way for Medaille was David Shuey who led all scorers with (18) points, as he was (7 of 9) from the floor.  He also pulled down six caroms, assisted on three buckets and also blocked a shot.

Coming off the bench in strong fashion was Anthony Battaglia who knocked down a game high three shots from behind the arc, finished with (13) points and Jammal Coleman netted ten points in his Maverick debut.  The Mavs benched outscored their counterparts (28-16) in the game.

The Mavs moved the ball when and their assists numbers proved it as they dished out (21) assists on their (28) field goals in the game.  The Mavs also held the Knights without a three point field goal, while limiting them to just five attempts from beyond the arc.

The win avenges an early season loss to Geneseo from last year and gets the Mavs to (1-0).  They will host the Knee Center of WNY Tip-Off Tournament this weekend as they will square off with Roberts Wesleyan College on Friday (11/18) at 6:00pm.  That game will be followed by Nazareth vs. Morrisville State at 8:00pm.  The consolation game will be played at 1:00pm on Saturday (11/19) followed by the Championship game at 3:00pm.
