Gulls victory over NEC solidifies spot in TCCC Tournament

Henniker, N.H. – The Endicott men's basketball team recorded a crucial 71-65 victory over TCCC foe New England College to snap a four-game losing streak and punch their ticket to the conference tournament.

Gulls sophomore Lance Greene (Dorchester, Mass.) paced the offense with a team-high 19 points on 7-of-10 from the floor and five free throw makes. Greene also grabbed eight rebounds, including four on the offensive glass as Endicott outrebounded NEC 43-36 in the win.

Endicott (15-9, 7-5 TCCC) held a 35-27 advantage over NEC (17-7, 6-6 TCCC) at halftime after officially taking the lead at the 8:19 mark in the first half. Endicott used an 8-0 run to build a 25-17 lead before the Pilgrims closed to gap to just three points. A three-pointer by Aaron Karkow (Uncasville, Conn.) and a jumper by Greene in the final minute of the half helped to separate the Gulls going into the locker room.

A 10-4 run early in the second half cut the Gulls' lead down to just two points. Endicott responded by pushing the lead back up to double digits for much of the period. NEC made one last push and trimmed the Endicott lead down to 67-63 with 34 seconds remaining in regulation but the Gulls closed out the game with four straight foul shots to solidify the 71-65 victory.

Endicott's Tyler Burkhart (Cromwell, Conn.) finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. Erik Callo (Southington, Conn.) scored 10 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three shots. Aaron Karkow also finished in double figures with 10 points.

Leading the way for NEC was sophomore Abdirahman Mohamed (Biddeford, Maine) who scored a game-high 20 points, including 5-of-9 from beyond three-point range. NEC's Shane Hennessey (Plymouth, England) finished with 17 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while Joe Faragher (North Ridgeville, Ohio) chipped in with 12 points and seven boards.

Endicott closes out the regular season with a 3:00 pm game against Curry College on Saturday, February 19th. The Gulls will also be celebrating Senior Day. NEC will face Wentworth at home on the same day.
