COLUMBUS, Ohio — The #13 Marietta College men's basketball team had its eight-game win streak snapped with a 91-82 road loss at Capital University Wednesday (Feb. 16) night. [Box Score]

The victory helped the Crusaders (16-8, 11-6 OAC) sweep the season series against the Pioneers (21-3, 14-3 OAC) and locked up the third seed in next week's OAC Tournament. OAC regular season champion Marietta had already secured the top seed and will host eighth-seeded Wilmington in the first round of the OAC Tournament at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 22) inside Ban Johnson Arena.

Pioneer junior Trevor Halter (Malvern/Malvern) scored a team-high 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting to move into 20th place on the team's all-time scoring list with 1,112 career points. Sophomore Jason Humphrey (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) followed with nine points, while sophomore Jacob Owens (Mansfield/Mansfield) had seven. Junior Kevin Knab (Lakewood/Lakewood) was limited to just five points but matched classmate Conner Kilpatrick (Bowling Green/Bowling Green) with a game-high nine rebounds.

Kelly Winter paced Capital with 30 points. Scott Robertson added 16, Tyler Munro 14 and DJ Frazier 12 to go along with a team-best seven boards. Both Winter and Frazier both added five assists in the win.

The Crusaders, who shot a blistering 52.4% (33-of-63) overall and 53.3% (8-of-15) from beyond the arc, scored 16 points off 10 Pioneer turnovers and finished with a 23-12 edge in fast break points. Marietta, who went 30-of-62 (48.4%) from the field and 9-of-22 (40.9%) from long range, out rebounded Capital 39-34.

Marietta fell behind early 12-5 but battled back to knot the game at 14-14 with 13:52 to play in the opening half. The Crusaders, however, pushed their lead to 13 points, 37-24, with 4:02 remaining in the period and entered intermission leading 43-36.

Capital's advantage grew to 16 points with 13:12 to play in the game. Marietta pulled within two possessions, 71-67, with 6:31 remaining and again, 76-72, with 4:28 left in the game. The Crusaders though stretched their lead back to double digits before settling for the 91-82 win.
