Maroons Fall at Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Chris Dende scored a game-high 17 points to help lift the University of Rochester to a 65-53 win over the University of Chicago men's basketball team in University Athletic Association play Friday night.

The Yellowjackets (17-4 overall, 9-1 UAA) led for the final 7:31 of the first half en route to building a 29-25 edge at the break.

Rochester retained the advantage for the first five minutes of the second half until Tommy Sotos's three-pointer put the Maroons on top 41-40 at the 14:52 mark.

Chicago (8-13, 5-5) led for the last time when Matt MacKenzie's jumper gave the Maroons a 49-47 lead with 10:31 remaining.

MacKenzie and Steve Stefanou each scored 12 points for Chicago.

Rochester then outscored Chicago 16-4 during the game's final 10 minutes, holding the Maroons to just one point for 6:31. Dende scored 12 of his 17 points in the second half.

John DiBartolomeo finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists for Rochester. Rob Reid added 12 points.

Rochester committed just four turnovers as it won for the 10th time in 11 games.

Chicago returns to action Sunday at UAA rival Emory University. Tip-off is set for noon (ET).
