Williamstown, Mass. – The Williams College Ephs defeated the visiting Trinity College Bantams this evening, 86-60, in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's basketball action at Chandler Gym.  Trinity falls to 13-10 overall and 4-4 in the NESCAC with its first loss in four games, while the Ephs, ranked No. 2 in the nation, improve to 22-1 overall and 8-0 in the league with their ninth victory in a row.  With just tomorrow's game at No. 7-ranked Middlebury remaining on the 2010-11 regular season schedule, Trinity has qualified for the NESCAC Championship Tournament for the 11th year in a row, and has secured the No. 4 seed in the tournament which earns them a home post-season game for the first time since 2008 on Feb. 19.

To start the game, Trinity seniors Jared Pimm (Chelmsfors, Mass.) and Brian Ford (Bronx, N.Y.) each nailed three-pointers to give the Bantams an early 10-4 lead just over two minutes into the game.  The Ephs answered from long range, hitting four treys in four possessions and added four more in a row later in the half to push their lead to double digits at 44-30 heading into the half.  Williams was 10-for-15 from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes. 

In the second stanza, Bantam sophomore Mick DiStasio (Cheverus, Maine) knocked down a three-ball from the top of the key to cut the Eph lead to 13 with just over 14 minutes to play, but Eph Taylor Epley knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to spark a Williams run that pushed the home team's advantage to up over 20 points. 

Freshman swingman Eric Dean (Gilford, N.H.) had 18 points and seven boards for Trinity while Ford added 14. The Bantams shot 42.9% from the field on the night.Leading the way for Williams was James Wang with 20 points. Troy Whittington added another 17 for the Ephs, who shot 56.9% from the field tonight as a team.
