Sean Haseley scored a career-high 25 points including a three-pointer with 1:06 left to lead DePauw to a 74-70 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over visiting Oglethorpe.

The Tigers improved to 15-7 on the season and 10-3 in conference play while winning for the ninth time in the last 10 games. Oglethorpe fell to 13-10 and 9-5 in SCAC play.

Oglethorpe jumped out to an early 12-3 lead behind Todd Ward, who scored eight of those points, but the Tigers' first 18 points came on threes and DePauw eventually tied the score at 24-24 on Drew Wills' trey with 6:16 left.

Ryan Sever's jumper gave the Tigers a 34-29 lead with 2:06 left, but Oglethorpe scored seven straight to take a two-point lead. Sever's jumper with two seconds left sent the teams to the intermission tied at 36-36.

The lead continued to go back and forth early in the second half until Oglethorpe used an 11-2 run to gain a 58-51 lead with 9:55 remaining. DePauw trimmed the lead to two on a couple of occasions and regained the lead at 65-64 on Sever's three-point play with 6:13 left.

Ward and Haseley exchanged layups before DePauw's Ross Simpson pushed DePauw's lead to 69-66 on a bucket with 2:29 remaining. Joe Kennedy's basket at 1:54 closed the lead to 69-68. The Tigers missed on their next possession but retained possession when the battle for the rebound went out of bounds of a Stormy Petrel. Haseley then knocked down his fifth three-pointer which pushed the margin to four.

The Stormy Petrels couldn't convert on the other end and were forced to commit three fouls to force the Tigers into the bonus. Sever hit one-of-two free throws with 26 seconds left to make it 73-68 before Kennedy drove the lane with 19 seconds remaining to close the gap to 73-70.

Oglethorpe's defense tied up the Tigers with 16 seconds left and the possession arrow favored the Stormy Petrels. Ward missed on a layup, but Oglethorpe controlled the rebound and Kennedy's three-point attempt with seven seconds remaining was off the mark. Steve Lemasters snagged the rebound and hit one of two free throws to seal the win.

Haseley added four steals to his 25 points and hit 5-of-6 from beyond the three-point arc. Sever totaled 13 points followed by Wills and Weakley with 11 each in the victory. Sever led the Tigers with five rebounds and Ross Simpson tallied six assists.

Ward led Oglethorpe with 29 points and seven rebounds and helped the Stormy Petrels score 44 points in the paint. Alex Richey totaled 12 points and Andrew Steioff added 10 for Oglethorpe.

The Stormy Petrels hit 55.6 percent from the floor including 60 percent in the second half, while DePauw shot 49.1 percent and 60.9 percent over the final 20 minutes. The Tigers also connected on 14-of-29 three-pointers. The Stormy Petrels had the edge on the boards, 27-23, but DePauw led, 13-6, in second-chance points.
