Diplomats Dominate Bullets

GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Glenn Robinson picked up his 800th in a 68-46 victory over Gettysburg Wednesday evening in Centennial Conference (CC) action. Robinson also coached in his 1,100th as the No. 21 Diplomats improved to 18-4, 13-2 CC.

F&M started out slow with only four points over the opening six minutes as Gettysburg led 6-4 with 14:36 on the clock. F&M answered with an 11-2 run to open up a 15-8 lead with 10:22 on the clock.

The Diplomats saw their lead hit double digits on a Steve Tolliver lay-up with 8:40 left, and it swelled to 17 (27-10) after a James McNally lay-up with 6:24 to go. It was a 20-point game before the Bullets scored four straight points inside the final two minutes, but a Hayk Gyokchyan lay-up with 29 seconds left gave the Diplomats 36-18 edge going into the break.
 
F&M held Gettysburg to 30.0 percent shooting in the opening half while connecting on 51.5 percent of its shots.
 
The Diplomats came out strong to start of the second half, outscoring the Bullets 17-8, with Mike Baker scoring eight points during the run. The lead reached as much as 30 on two occasions, the last coming on a Baker jumper with 7:19 left.
 
Baker scored a game-high 18 points on 8-for-11 shooting while Gyokchyan tallied 15 points and eight rebounds. McNally added 11 points off the bench. Georgio Milligan and Tolliver finished nine and eight points respectively.

Andrew Powers came into the game 11 points shy of the Gettysburg career mark of 1,880. He broke the mark with a pair of free throws with 10:56 left in the game and finished the night with a team-high 13 points. Derek Brooks netted 10 for the Bullets and Paul Crone finished with seven.

F&M shot an even 50.0 percent for the game while the Bullets finished at 37.8 percent.

The Diplomats return to action on Saturday when they travel to Swarthmore for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
