BOSTON, Mass. – The Norwich men's basketball team advanced to a 3-4 GNAC record on Tuesday night after defeating the Emmanuel Saints in the Jean Yawkey Center, 74-57.
Three Cadets netted double-figures against their conference rivals, as juniors Antonio Davis and Josh Cabrera led the way with 18 points and 14 points respectively.
Davis combined his 18 points with six boards and three assists to help guide the Cadets, shooting 8-of-18 inside the arc and sinking both attempted free throws.
Cabrera was 3-of-4 from the line, while netting five baskets and one 3-pointer against the Saints. He also earned an assist in the action and made two steals and five boards.
Adding 10 points to the final score was sophomore Ryan Williams, who shot 4-of-11 on the night and sank both free-throw attempts. Williams also collected five rebounds and earned three assists and two steals in the action.
The Cadets doubled the Saints score at halftime, 44-22. Although Emmanuel jumped to a 3-2 lead early in the first half, Williams' jumper in the second minute of play gave Norwich the advantage they would control for the remainder of the game.
While leading by 22 points at the start of the second half, the Saints were only able to come within 13 points of the difference for the remainder of regulation time.
The Cadets advance to a 7-7 overall record on the season.
Norwich will be in Andrews Hall for their next conference game when they host Rivier at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The Cadets have been looking forward to their meeting with the Raiders since December, when their first game was called off before halftime due to weather complications.
