Mount Saint Vincent Falls At Home To Farmingdale State

Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Basketball team dropped a Skyline Conference home game to Farmingdale St. on Wednesday night by a score of 92-65. Senior captain Dino Johnson (Fort Johnson, N.Y.) was the lone Dolphin in double-figures with a game-high 19 points.

Mount Saint Vincent got a quick start on Wednesday, scoring the first four points of the contest and holding a four point advantage three times in the first five and a half minutes. Junior Mark Waite (Chicago, Ill.) tallied the first four points for the Dolphins and Johnson knocked down two of his five triples in that stretch.

After a sluggish start to the game, Farmingdale St. used a 15-6 run over nearly seven and a half minutes to open a nine point lead with 6:25 to play before halftime. After a George Naldjieff (Miami, Fla.) bucket for the Dolphins got them to within a point, the Rams scored 15 of the final 18 points of the period to carry a 41-28 lead into the intermission.

Farmingdale St. shot just 38.6-percent from the floor in the first half, but went 7-for-14 from behind the arc to take the lead. The Rams made eight more field goals then the Dolphins in the opening stanza and five more triples. Dyshaun Flournoy led all scorers at the half with 15 points.

Farmingdale St. would put together another sizable run in the second half to pull away from the Mount in a key league contest for the Dolphins. Leading by 12 in the opening minutes of the second half, the Rams went on a 23-5 run to open a 30 point lead with 11:30 left in the contest. The Mount would only be able to get as close as 23 the rest of the night and the Rams opened a lead as large as 34 with just under 10 minutes left to play.

Overall on the night, Farmingdale St. had four players score in double-figures, led by 17 points from Flournoy. He finished 7-for-15 from the floor and canned three treys for the visitors who shot 41.7-percent for the game overall and an even 50-percent from behind the arc.

Jermaine Abraham added 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Rams, with Keith Dabney and Robert Adon adding 15 and 13 respectively. Keith Nandin came off the bench for the Rams and chipped in with seven points and five assists.

Mount Saint Vincent finished the game shooting 34.8-percent and knocked down six three-pointers. The Dolphins struggled from the free-throw line on Tuesday, going just 11-for-21.

Johnson went 7-for-18 overall from the field and 5-for-12 from three-point range for the Dolphins. He also added a pair of rebounds and a steal. Shaquille Cunningham (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added seven points and matched Nandin with a game-high five assists.

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 13-7 overall on the season and to 8-7 in league play. The Dolphins will look to get back on track Saturday when they travel to Maritime. Tip-off with the Privateers is set for 2:00 p.m.
