ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. –  Host N.C. Wesleyan earned a sweep of the season series with Shenandoah by downing the Hornets 95-81 in USA South Conference men's basketball action Sunday afternoon.

The Bishops (14-6, 6-1 USA South) led virtually throughout in downing the Hornets (3-16, 1-7).

NCWC opened with five of the first seven points of the game before two consecutive Kevin Kline buckets in the paint gave Shenandoah its only lead, 6-5, at the 17:57 mark.

Cornelius Snow answered 19 seconds later with a 3-pointer for the hosts, and NCWC had a lead it would not relinquish.

The two teams would trade the next four buckets, with Kline getting both of Shenandoah's, before Snow hit another '3' to ignite a Bishops run.

Snow's trey, one of 10 his team had on the day and six in the opening 20 minutes, started a 16-3 run that threatened to blow SU out of the building.

Kline finally stopped the string with three free throws around the five-minute mark and the two teams nearly split (14-12 SU) the final 26 points of the stanza.

Leading 40-27 at the break, Wesleyan gradually expanded its lead until it held a 59-35 lead with 14:39 to play.

However, Shenandoah refused to fold its tents and gained some momentum with an 11-2 run that finished with a Corey Levenberry layup at the 12:38 mark.

A second run, this one 12-2, cut the deficit to eight points with 5:32 remaining. Five different players scored for SU during this run with Levenberry and Matt Carpenter both contributing three points apiece.

The Hornets were able to get within eight points on three more occasions, the last with 2:11 showing, before NCWC iced it by seeing Alex Murray hit six consecutive free throws in the final 2:01.

Kline led SU with 20 points while Mitch Dudley had his eighth double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Matt Dougherty had a game-high 23 for the victors.

Shenandoah hosts Southern Virginia a week from Tuesday in the Hornets final non-conference game of the season. Game time is 7 p.m.
