DePauw hit 33-of-41 free throws including 25-of-29 in the second half on the way to a 77-63 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win over visiting Austin. The Tigers improved to 13-7 overall and 8-3 in the SCAC, while the Kangaroos dropped to 9-10 overall and 5-6 in the conference.

DePauw led much of the first half before Austin gained a 21-20 advantage on Walter Phillips' layup with 5:48 left. Michael Wilkison put the Tigers ahead for good with two three-pointers in a 25-second span and DePauw went to the intermission with a 31-27 lead. The Tigers' first seven field goals in the half came from beyond the three-point arc.

The Tigers expanded their lead to as much as seven in the second half at 49-42 after Ryan Sever's jumper with 8:59 left. Phillips scored on a layup and Austin Brewster nailed a three to trim the lead to 49-46 with 7:55 left.

DePauw responded with seven straight as Joe Bergfeld scored on a layup, Tommy Weakley knocked in three free throws and Drew Wills hit a pair to make it 56-46 with 6:42 remaining. The Kangaroos got as close as six with just over a minute left, but the Tigers scored the game's final eight points from the line to seal the victory.

Sean Haseley led DePauw with 20 points including 18 in the second half, while Steve Lemasters followed with 13 and Weakley 12. Ross Simpson, Haseley and Bergfeld each hauled down six rebounds as the Tigers held a 35-27 edge on the boards.

Phillips led Austin with 19 points followed by Jordan Hancock with 15 and Scott Straley with 11. Straley hauled down eight rebounds and dished out three assists.

DePauw shot 39.5 percent from the floor to Austin's 45.1 percent but outscored the Kangaroos at the line 33-14. The Tigers also knocked in 10-of-23 from three-point range.
