(Buffalo, NY) – From the opening tip of the Medaille College men's basketball game against AMCC foe Franciscan University it was apparent that it would be the Mavs day. They never trailed against the Barons as the Mavs rolled to their sixth straight victory (80-40) and kept hopes alive for a third straight conference regular season title.
The Mavs put forth a balanced attack as they dismantled the Barons while dominating every aspect of the game. The battle of the paint went the way of Medaille (34-6) as did the bench scoring (42-6) along with holding the rebounding edge (47-31). The Mavs shot well throughout, hitting on (50.0%) of their total field goals and (48.1%) from behind the arc. The Mavs knocked down thirteen trifecta's in the win. In last years home win over Franciscan they set a program record with (17) three pointers.

Laureano did so on (4 of 6) shooting from the floor, (2 of 3) from beyond the arc. While Flores had a perfect shooting day; (5 of 5) from the field and (2 of 2) from three point range.
Junior Phil Maiarana (Kenmore, NY/St. Joseph's) provided a big spark off the bench as he chipped in with (10) points and assisted on four other Medaille buckets. Seniors Joe Mogavero (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) and Ron Malicki (Machias, NY/Pioneer) also dished out four assists each, with Mogavero grabbing (7) rebounds to help in the win as well.
The Maverick defense was dominant as they held Franciscan to (24.6%) shooting overall in a game that saw very few fouls called. All told, both teams combined for just (13) free throw attempts, with Medaille only making it to the line five times.
The Mavs improve to (15-5) overall and (11-2) in conference play. They are currently tied for second in the standings with Penn State-Behrend. They will look for their 12th conference victory when they head to Hilbert College on Wednesday (2/2) for an 8:00pm tip-off. The Mavs defeated Hilbert (77-62) when they met on January 5th in the Sullivan Center.
