FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Four Loggers scored in double figures to lead the University of Puget Sound past Pacific 79-73 on Friday. Anthony Gittens scored a season-high 19 points to lead the Loggers (7-10, 4-5 NWC) while adding nine rebounds.

Gittens was joined by Kaleb Shelton, Aaron Edwards and Edric Egberaure in double digits. Edwards was also just shy of a double-double with 15 points and eight rebounds.

The game was tied as late as the 6:14 mark at 64-64, but a tip-in by Edwards with six minutes left gave the Loggers the lead for good. Edwards scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half and Gittens scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half to help the Loggers pull away with the victory.

"We worked on a lot of situations in practice this week," commented head coach Justin Lunt. "We talked a lot about holding leads at home and winning on the road.  This is the best I've seen us execute down the stretch all season. We showed a lot of maturity."

The Loggers shot 39.1 percent from the floor and 40 percent from three-point range to fuel the victory. The Loggers also shot 70 percent from the line while the Boxers (3-15, 2-7 NWC) shot just 54.2 percent.

The Logger victory came despite 65.4 percent shooting from the Boxers in the second half. Carson Bartlett led a quartet of Boxers in double digits with 23 points.

With a hot-shooting Boxers team continuing to challenge, the Loggers won the battle on the boards 46-30, including 19-5 on the offensive glass, and received 33 points off the bench.

"It was really nice to see Malcolm (Colbert), one of our freshman, come off the bench and make plays," said Lunt. "We had some X-factors off the bench and play really well."

It was the first NWC road victory of the season for the Loggers. They will try to make it two-in-a-row when they face Willamette tomorrow at 8 p.m. in Salem, Ore.
