Second half pressure fuels Endicott's win at Gordon

More news about: Endicott

Wenham, Mass. - Lance Greene (Dorchester, Mass.) scored 23 points to lead the Endicott Gulls to a 77-62 victory over Gordon.  Endicott (13-6, 5-2) has won three straight and nine of its last 11 games.  Gordon falls to 6-12 and 2-5 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

Gordon senior forward Greg Walker (Uxbridge, Mass.), who finished with a team-high 17 points and six rebounds, became the 17th player in school history to eclipse the 1,000 career point mark.  Walker drilled an 18-foot jumper with 39 seconds left in the first half to reach the milestone and send the game into the break tied at 32-32.

The Scots appeared poised for a strong second half, when Austin Bentson (Branchville, N.J.) and Walker both made layups to give Gordon a 36-32 lead coming out of halftime.  Over the next 6:31, Endicott employed heavy full court pressure and went on a 21-4 run to take command of the game.

Greene and backcourt mate Jordan Lewis (Windsor, Conn.) created most of the havoc, resulting in a number of easy layups and foul shots for the Gulls.  Endicott shot 22 of 25 from the free throw stripe while Gordon shot only 5 of 10.

The lead never got under double digits again, as Endicott managed to stretch their advantage to 70-51 following a dagger by Bennett Knowlton (Shrewsbury, Mass.) with 4:26 to play.

Lachlan Magee (Melbourne, Australia) joined Greene in double figures with 13, while Erik Callo (Southington, Conn.) finished with a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Austin Bentson added 15 points for Gordon while David Dempsey (Wallingford, Conn.) had 14.

Endicott held an overwhelming 38-22 advantage on the boards.

The Scots will return to action on Wednesday, February 2, when they travel to Weston, Mass. to face Regis College for a 7:30 pm tip-off.  Endicott will go to New London, N.H. and take on conference leader Colby-Sawyer at 7:30 pm on February 2.
