ANGOLA, Ind. - The men's basketball squad won for the fourth time in its last five games with its second road win of the season, 58-53, at Trine University on Wednesday (Jan. 26). The win moved the Bulldogs to 10-7 overall and 5-2 in the MIAA.
Trine led early scoring three on their first possession of the game and held a lead for the first 3:43. Adrian tied the game at 7-7 and the teams traded the lead until the 13:10 mark when Adrian took a 15-14 lead. The Bulldogs led for the rest of the game at that point and went into the locker room up 28-23.
The Bulldogs pushed their lead to double digits at 35-25 at the 15:44 mark of the second half. Adrian kept their 10-plus point advantage up until the 2:34 mark when Trine cut it to 50-42. The Thunder then put a little scare into the black and gold as they capped a 10-0 run with a Scott Rogers three-pointer making it 50-47 with 1:15 to play.
The momentum swung back to Adrian as Jovon Mosley completed a three-point play with an offensive rebound and put back followed by a free throw to make it 53-47 with 41 seconds to go. Cody Barnes hit a pair of free throws with 24 seconds left and Wesley Reed followed with two makes at the line with 13 seconds on the clock to preserve the win.
Mosley led all scorers with 16 points for AC. He shot 5-of-9 from the floor and went 5-of-6 at the line in 22 minutes. Mosley also added six rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Sean Gallant complemented with 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds in 34 minutes. Gallant was 7-of-10 from the floor and also had four assists and three steals. Barnes came off the bench to score 11 points making 3-of-6 from the arc in 27 minutes.
Adrian shot 41.3 percent for the game and were 14-of-17 from the line. Trine finished shooting 39.2 percent and made just 8-of-13 at the line. Adrian outrebounded the Thunder, 33-27, with both teams grabbing seven offensive rebounds.
