(Buffalo, NY) – A total team effort was the key to the Mavs (73-47) victory over Pitt-Greensburg this evening in the Sullivan Center. Thirteen Medaille players found their way on to the scoresheet and the Mavs shot (58.6%) in the second half to seal the victory. It is the fourth straight win for Medaille.
The Mavs dictated play throughout the entire contest on both ends of the floor. Their stingy defense held the Bobcats to (35.7%) shooting from the field and they turned (18) Greensburg turnovers into (29) points on the other end of the floor. The Maverick bench also outscored their counterparts (37-17).
Senior Ron Malicki (Machias, NY/Pioneer) led the Mavs in scoring with (10) points, he is now twelve points shy of becoming the eighth player in program history to reach the (1,000) career point plateau as he currently has (988) points.
Junior David Shuey (Newfane, NY/Newfane) provided a huge spark off the bench as he went (4 for 4) from the floor and (1 for 1) from the line, finishing with (9) points. He also grabbed four rebounds and blocked a pair of shots on the defensive end of the floor. Fellow junior Steve Bryant (Lancaster, NY/Bishop Timon) also contributed in reserve action, knocking down (3 of 5) shots and posting eight points.
The Mavs are now (13-5) overall and (9-2) in AMCC play. They will host Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday (1/26) at 8:00pm as they look to stay in the regular season title hunt.
