UW-Stout's Erik Olson (So, Buffalo, Minn) scored a game- and collegiate-high, but it wasn't enough to offset UW-River Falls as the Falcons downed the Blue Devils, 87-73, Saturday at Johnson Fieldhouse.

The first place Falcons (16-2, 9-0) shot 60 percent in the first half on their way to a nine-point, 47-38, halftime lead. The Falcons cooled down in the second half, but finished the game shooting 54.7 percent from the field (35-64).

The game was tight for the first 14 minutes until River Falls went on a 11-1 run to take a 45-34 lead with two minutes left in the first half. Stout (7-10, 2-8) got as close as seven points, 60-53, when Steve Pax (Fr, Elmwood) hit a 3-pointer. But that would be it as the Falcons dashed off a 10-2 run and Stout got as close at eight points once more with six minutes remaining in the game.

Olson scored nine points in the first half and 10 in the second to lead Stout. Eric Hostetter (Sr, Stillwater, Minn) finished with 13 points, scoring 11 in the first half. Alex Oman (Fr, Lake Elmo, Minn) came off the bench to score 10 points for Stout.

Stout shot 38.5 percent (25-65) from the floor, but did take advantage of their free throw opportunities, making 85.7 percent (12-14). Stout outrebounded the Falcons, 39-37.

The Falcons had five players in double digits, led by Jake Voeltz's double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Jontae Koonkaew came off the bench to score 14 points. Aaron Anderson matched Koonkaew's 14 points. Shane Manor finished with 12 points and UT Udo scored 10 points.
