ALLIANCE, Ohio – Otterbein opened the game on 17-7 run and never looked back in a 82-61 upset victory over Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference men's basketball game Saturday at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.

C.J. Julian had a game-high 19 points and Chris Davis had 17 points and 11 rebounds as the Cardinals had five players in double figures to improve to 8-9 overall and 4-6 in the OAC.

The Purple Raiders fall to 8-9 overall and 6-4 in the OAC and got 16 points Jimmy Wood (Wintersville/Indian Creek) and 12 from Dave Pellerite (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls).

Otterbein shot the ball well hitting 32 of 62 shots (52 percent) and dominating the glass out-rebounding Mount Union 41-27.

After Otterbein's hot start, the Cardinals extended the lead to 30-13 on a Davis layup with 5:41 to play in the half. 

Mount Union ripped off nine straight points to close the gap to eight, 30-22, but the Cardinals retook control and took a 37-24 lead into the lockers.

The Raiders got no closer than 12 points the rest of the way. 

Mount Union stays home to host John Carroll next Wednesday (Jan. 26) at 7:30 pm at The MAAC.
