New London, Conn. - The visiting Trinity College Bantam men's basketball team secured a 70-59 victory against the Connecticut College Camels in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's basketball game played at Luce Field House this afternoon. The Bantams improve to 9-6 overall and 1-1 in the NESCAC with their 12th consecutive win over the Camels dating back to the 2000-01 season. Connecticut College dips to 7-7 overall with an 0-2 mark in league action.
Senior co-captain forward Luke MacDougall (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) scored all 21 of his points in the opening half of action to lead the Bantams, while sophomroe guard Cameron Sutton (Queens, N.Y.) chipped in with 10 points, and seniro guard Brian Ford (Bronx, N.Y.) finished with nine points and five assists. Connecticut College sophomore Boris Jermeic (Rijeka, Croatia) netted 13 points in the contest. Taylor Hanson (St. Paul, Minn.) contributed 12 points and six boards for the Camels and Matt Vadas (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) reached double-figures with 11.
Trinity fell behind early, 16-5, but a jumper from the baseline and a three-pointer from the left wing by senior swingmanm Jared Pimm (Chelmsford, Mass.) cut the Camel lead to 26-24 with 6:16 left in the first half and a MacDougall trey as time expired on the shot clock gave Trinity a 29-28 lead at the four-minute mark. Sutton capped off a 21-6 Trinity run over the final 10 minutes before the break with a 12-foot jumper as the horn sounded.
The Bantams led by as many as 14 points in the second half but the Camels battled back with a 13-2 run over 5:37 to pull to within two. Jeremic cut the lead to 56-51 when he collected a steal and went end-to-end for a hoop in transition with 7:01 to go. Later on with 4:48 remaining, Vadas pulled the Camels to within a pair when he drained a deep three from the right side. The Bantams scored the next five points and used a three-ball from Ford with 3:43 to go to make it a 63-56 game. Trinity scored 12 of the game's final 15 points, inclduign six by Ford.
