FOREST GROVE – Lightning struck not once, not twice, but three times for Pacific on Friday night as a trio of K.C. Wiser buzzer beaters lifted rival Linfield to a 94-92, double overtime victory in Northwest Conference men's basketball action at the Stoller Center.

The Boxers (3-11, 2-3 NWC) bounced back from a 16-point first half deficit to take the lead with 2:10 left in the second half and held a 74-71 lead on a pair of Andrew Beatty (Jr., Lynnwood, Wash.) free throws with eight seconds to go.  Linfield surged right back down the floor, with Wiser hitting the tying three-pointer from 30 feet to force the first overtime.

Pacific led the entire first overtime and was up by three with 17 seconds left when the Wildcats turned to Wiser again, who hit another three-pointer from free-throw line extended with eight seconds to go for an 81-81 tie.  The Boxers trailed two in the second overtime when Adam McElwee (So., Woodinville, Wash.) tied it at 92-92 with 11 seconds left.  Zach Anderson missed a lay-in with three seconds left, but Wiser was there to clean up the glass and tip-in the winning score.

Wiser led all scorers with 39 points, connecting on 13 of 19 from the field, 4 of 7 from three-point range and 9 of 11 from the free throw line to go along with 15 rebounds and two blocks.  Anderson and Sergio Rosario each added 10 as the Wildcats (6-8, 2-3 NWC) shot 54.8 percent for the game (34-62) and an impressive 52 percent from three-point range (13-25).  Linfield also out-rebounded the Boxers by an astounding 51-27 margin.

LeMar Anglin (Sr., Chicago, Ill.) led five Pacific players in double figures with 25 points, connecting on 9 of 14 from the field and 9 of 17 from the free throw line.  Carson Bartlett (Jr., St. Helens, Ore.) had 24 points on 8 of 16 from the field.  Colin Wester (So., Sherwood, Ore.) added 16 points, McElwee contributed 14 and Beatty had 11.  The Boxers shot 46 percent for the game (29-63).

The contest was the first multi-overtime contest for the Boxers since the 1994-95 season, when the Boxers outlasted Carroll (Mont.) in an 82-79, triple-overtime thriller.  Pacific's last double overtime NWC contest came in the 1993-94 campaign, with the Boxers scoring a 76-75 win over Pacific Lutheran.

As the first half progressed, though, it looked as if it would be anything but close as Linfield blistered the nets to hit 70.8 percent from the field and 67 percent from outside.  The Wildcats jumped out to a 27-17 lead on a Rosario three-pointer at the 8:22 mark and built their largest of the game when a Zach Meikle trey made it 39-23 with 3:14 to go.  The Boxers closed the half on a 7-5 mini-run to come within 44-30 at the half.

Linfield maintained their double-digit advantage until the Boxers went on a 7-0 run to come within eight points on a pair of Anglin free throws eight minutes into the second half.  The Wildcats built the lead back to 12 with 10:47 to go when two Bartlett charity shots sparked a 24-8 run over the next eight minutes, culminating on a Beatty jumper with 1:29 to go that gave the Boxers a 68-64 lead.

The Wildcats reduced the lead to one on a Wiser three-pointer with 24 seconds left before Beatty nailed two free throws to put Pacific up 72-69.  The two teams then traded free throws before Wiser hit his third trey of the game with time expiring to send the game to overtime at 74-74.

Pacific scored the first two points of the first overtime period, with Bartlett hitting a lay-in for a 78-74 lead with two minutes to go.  The Wildcats rebounded to tie it at 78-78, but another Bartlett lay-in and a McElwee free throw put the Boxers up 81-78.  Linfield put the ball in Wiser's hands again, connecting on a trey with eight seconds to go to tie it at 81-81 and send the game into a second extra period.

The Boxers went up four again early in the second overtime, thanks to back-to-back three-point plays by Bartlett and Beatty.  Linfield stayed in the game, going up 92-90 on a bank three-pointer by Daniel Teater.  The Boxers then tied the game at 92-92 on two McElwee free throws with 11 seconds left.  Linfield advanced down the floor quickly, and the game appeared headed to a third overtime when Anderson missed a contested lay-in with three seconds left.  Wiser was in position for the rebound and quick tip-in with 1.5 seconds left for the 94-92 lead.  The Boxers would not get another look at the basket.

The Boxers return to action at home again on Saturday, hosting Lewis & Clark at 8 p.m.  Linfield returns home to host Puget Sound.
