Smith scored five points and Sternkopf added four points during an early 11-2 Cortland run that extended a 12-9 lead to 23-11. Potsdam closed to within six points a few times later in the half, but Winter's three-pointer in the final seconds gave the Red Dragons a 37-28 halftime lead. Cortland's lead remained between seven and 13 points the entire second half.
Cortland will travel to Brockport next Friday, Jan. 21, for an 8 p.m. SUNYAC matchup.
