ASHLAND, VA – Calvin Croskey made a pair of free-throws with 18.4 seconds remaining to break the 10th and final tie of the evening as No. 11 Randolph-Macon topped No. 14 Eastern Mennonite 83-78 in ODAC Men's Basketball action.

Randolph-Macon (13-2 / 6-1 ODAC) also got 26 points, including 17 in the second half from Danny Jones, who tied a career high on the strength of 8-of-10 shooting from the floor and 9-of-12 from the foul line. Brandon Braxton also had 16 points for R-MC on a perfect 7-of-7 shooting from the floor, while Croskey finished the night with 14 points in the win.

R-MC shot 53.8% from the floor on the night, including 66.7% in the second half, as the Jackets converted 18-of-27 field goal attempts in the second stanza.

Jones led R-MC with eight rebounds, while Braxton, Jordan Brown and Adam Desgain each had seven boards to help the Jackets to a 41-36 edge on the glass.

Todd Phillips led EMU (11-3 / 2-3 ODAC) with a team-high 20 points, George Johnson added 15 points and D.J. Hinson had 10 tallies as well. Orie Pancione had a game-high nine rebounds in a losing effort for the Royals.

The game was close from the start as neither teams was able to open up more than a four point lead in the first half. The Jackets took a 30-29 advantage into the locker room at the intermission when Kevin Voelkel drained his second career three-pointer as time expired.

R-MC was able to open up a five point lead in the opening minutes of the second half, but EMU rallied going on an 18-5 run, taking a 50-42 lead on a Phillips jumper with just under 12 minutes to go in the game.

Randolph-Macon rallied, scoring eight of the next 10 points, pulling within two when an Eric Pugh three pointer made the score 52-50 with 10 minutes to play.

EMU would hold a slim lead over the course of the next seven minutes before a Brown bucket put R-MC up 69-67 with just over two minutes to go in the game.

After a defensive stop, a Jones layup put R-MC up by four before a Degain technical foul shot pushed R-MC in front 72-67 with 1:31 on the clock.

The Royals battled back behind Johnson who scored 10 of the next 11 points for EMU. including a three-pointer by Johnson to pull the Royals even at 78-78 with 24 seconds to play.

On R-MC's ensuing possession, Croskey made two free-throws to put the Jackets up for good. After a defensive stop, Jordan Brown made one-of-two from the charity stripe to put R-MC up three with under 10 seconds to go.

The Royals had a chance to tie, but Johnson's layup attempt fell short and Jones made two free-throws on the other end of the floor to seal the game.

Randolph-Macon will return to action on Saturday when it hosts Emory & Henry at 2:00 p.m.
