Four buckets inside the paint for the Bears early in the second half gave WUSTL a 29-23 advantage with 17:37 left before a timeout by Webster. The Bears held onto the lead until the 13:50 mark of the second half, following a jumper by Robby Meeh.

Trimble then took over the game for Webster, scoring 11-straight points off three three-pointers, putting the Gorloks out in front 47-43. A triple by Cody Bradfish, and then a high-floating three by Trimble made it 53-47 with 8:20 left. Trimble scored 14 points for Webster in a four-minute span.

The Bears got the lead down to two (60-58) with 8.7 seconds left following a lay-up by freshman Tim Cooney, but that is close as Washington U. would get.
