RIPON - St. Norbert College's slumping offense shot just 35.9 percent from the floor leading to a 70-60 loss to Ripon College in a Midwest Conference game.

The Green Knights, who entered the game ranked 15th in the D3hoops.com Top 25, fell to 9-3 overall and 5-2 in the MWC. Ripon snapped a seven-game losing streak to St. Norbert in improving to 7-4, 5-1.

St. Norbert hasn't scored at least 70 points in its last eight games, and connected on just 23-for-64 field goals in the game. The Green Knights also launched a school-record 37 three-point field-goal attempts and made just 10 (27 percent).

Ripon was in control for most of the game, leading by as much as 13 points in the first half. The Red Hawks led 29-16 with 3 minutes 14 seconds left before halftime but St. Norbert closed on a 9-2 run, capped off by a David Wipperfurth 3-pointer to trail 31-25 at the break.

St. Norbert got to within three points four times in the second half, the last at 58-55 with 2:54 left on another Wipperfurth 3. Scott Gillespie's second-chance basket with 1:52 to go put Ripon up 60-55, and St. Norbert came up empty on its next possession and never threatened again.

John Taylor led St. Norbert with 21 points, while Wipperfurth added 19 and Chris Peterson 11. St. Norbert had only nine turnovers but forced just seven from Ripon.

The Red Hawks shot 23-for-51 (45.1 percent) from the floor. Aris Wurtz scored 25 points while Gillespie added 21 and Taylor Koth 12. Ripon was 23-for-25 (92 percent) at the free-throw line.
