NEWBURGH, N.Y. – While limiting Maritime to just 27.1-percent shooting from the field, the lowest opponent field goal percentage of the season, the Mount Saint Mary College men's basketball team earned a 77-48 Skyline Conference victory on Tuesday night inside the Kaplan Center. The Knights improved to 7-4 overall (5-1 Skyline), while the Privateers dropped back to even a 5-5 (3-2 Skyline).

A fourteen-point advantage for the Mount was trimmed to just seven when Maritime senior Paul Suarino (Sayville, N.Y.) knocked down a three-pointer with 14:29 remaining in the contest. The Knights, however, would rip off the next thirteen points to lead 51-31 as the clock dipped under twelve minutes remaining. A blowout developed as the Mount continued to dominate the action, following up with a 20-6 run. A three-pointer from freshman Joe Stabach (Staten Island, N.Y.) with 5:08 to play sent the Knights to their biggest lead of the game, 71-37.

Stabach would lead all scorers with 17 points on 6-of-12 from the field. The Staten Island native connected three times from downtown. Junior Kevin Milella (Floral Park, N.Y.) completed a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds, while senior Tim Morris (Greenwich, N.Y.) also reached double figures with 13 points.

Maritime senior Giovanni Hurley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds, but was held in check for most of the evening. Hurley shot 7-of-15 from the floor and had seven turnovers. Junior Sam Porte (Harlem, N.Y.) contributed nine points and nine boards.

As a team, Maritime committed 22 turnovers while connecting on just 19-of-70 from the field. The Privateers were 3-of-21 (14.3-percent) from three-point land. The Knights didn't shoot the ball all that well either, finishing at just 38.2-percent from the floor, but they did make nine triples on the night.

Up next for the Knights is a road trip to the Polytechnic Institute of NYU on Thursday, January 6. The tip is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Brooklyn.
