Saints Fall to Marian (Ind.), 87-70, on Final Day of the Coach Connor Classic

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College men's basketball team fell, 87-70, to Marian (Ind.) University, 87-70, tonight (Tuesday, December 28, 2010) in the final game of the Coach Connor Classic at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 6-4 on the season.  With the win, the Knights improve to 10-3 on the season.

In the first half with a game tied at 29-29 with 3:53 to play the Saints went on a 7-0 run to take a 36-29 lead when senior shooting guard Brian Muse (Bethel, Ohio/Bethel) made a lay-up at the 1:47 mark of the half.  Marian then closed out the half on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 36-36 at halftime when Aaron Evans made a jumper with 25-seconds to play before the half.

The Knights opened the second half on a 5-2 run to take a 41-38 lead with 17:59 to play in the game on a jumper by Evans.  The Saints answered with a 6-2 run to retake the lead at 44-43 when senior shooting guard Aaron Miller (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) made a three-pointer with 15:09 to play in the game.  Marian responded with a 44-24 run to take its biggest lead of the game at 87-68 with 1:13 to play on two free-throws by Drew Adams.  The Saints' Miller made a lay-up with 1:05 to play for the final score of 87-70.

Three Saints finished in double-figure scoring as Miller had a game-high 21 points, Muse had 11 and freshman shooting guard Willis Fleming (Cincinnati, Ohio/Fairfield) had 10.  Miller and junior center Colt Stafford (Groveport, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) led the team on the boards with eight rebounds each.

The Saints close out their non-conference schedule on Friday (December 31, 2010) when they host Wilmington College at 3 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
