Mount Union Rallies in Second Half for Road Win

NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's basketball team rallied for a double-digit second half deficit to score a 57-51 Ohio Athletic Conference win Wednesday at Muskingum in New Concord.

Down 34-24 with 13:46 to go, Mount Union senior guard Ben Hodkinson (Tippecanoe/Harrison Central) nailed three straight three-pointers to spark a 20-2 Purple Raider run that made the score 44-36 with 7:12 to play and they never gave up the lead.

Jimmy Wood (Wintersville/Indian Creek) scored 14 of his game-high 19 points in the second half, Hodkinson had 14 and Matt Wier (New Castle, Pa./Mohawk) tallied 10 to lead Mount Union (4-7, 3-2 OAC) to its second straight conference win.

Muskingum (3-6, 2-3 OAC), which led 22-20 at the half, got 16 points and a career-best 17 rebounds from Kyle Clinedinst.

Mount Union returns home after Christmas to take on Waynesburg (Pa.) on Thur., Dec. 30 at 7:30 pm at The MAAC.
