MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- Huntingdon College's men's basketball team fell 81-69 to Oakwood University on Thursday evening at Roland Arena. After trailing by 22 points at the half, the Hawks outscored the Ambassadors in the second half but trailed by 12 at the final buzzer.
Huntingdon was held scoreless in the last 5 minutes of the first half, while Oakwood went on a 12-0 run into halftime. After the Ambassadors' scoring spree the Hawks trailed by 22 points at the half, 43-21, and proved to be the difference in the ball game.
Senior Ephriam Hudson had a game-high 19 points and 7 steals, followed by Deshawn Williams and D'Awvalo Turnipseed's 12 and 9 points, respectively.
In the second period, the Hawks never overcame the first half slump even though Huntingdon outscored the Ambassadors 48-38.
For the game, the Ambassadors held a 46-26 advantage on the glass. Oakwood converted 54.9 percent of its shots, hitting 28-of-51, while the Hawks finished 22-of-60 (36.7%).
Oakwood was led by Marcus Fitts, who finished with 18 points and 8 rebounds in the victory.
Huntingdon (2-3) travels to Pensacola, Fla. on Friday, Dec. 3, taking on Pensacola Christian College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
