No. 12 Randolph-Macon Connects on a School Record 17 Three-Pointers in a 67-48 ODAC Win Over Guilford

ASHLAND, VA – No. 12 Randolph-Macon connected on a school record 17 three-pointers as the Yellow Jacketed scored a 67-48 victory over ODAC rival Guilford Saturday afternoon in men's basketball action. 

R-MC (7-2 / 3-1 ODAC) made 17-of-31 (54.8%) shots from beyond the arc and were 24-of-51 from the floor, shooting at a 47.1% clip for the day.    The 17 three-pointers break the school record of 15 that was set three times, most recently in a win over Lynchburg on Wednesday.  

The R-MC defense held GC to 19-of-51 (37%) shooting on the afternoon, including just 3-of-11 from beyond the three pointer stripe.  Guilford was led by Tobi Ankinsola and Justin Stafford who each had 12 points in a losing effort.

Eric Pugh led the way with a game-high 22 points, which included seven trifectas on the afternoon.   Calvin Croskey added 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three point land, while Adam Desgain and Jordan Brown had nine and eight points, respectively in the win.

Guilford (5-4 / 1-2 ODAC) got off to a fast start, making its first five shots from the field, taking an 11-5 advantage on a jumper Gabriel Lowder. 

With the score 18-14 in favor of Guilford and just over 11 minutes remaining in the half, R-MC went on an 18-0 run that featured five three-pointers with Pugh capping the run with a three that made the score 32-18 with just over five minutes reaming.

R-MC took  a 38-27 lead into the locker room and came out in the second-half and  would put the game away with a 11-2 run,  capped by  Danny Jones stepping outside for a three that made the score 49-29 with 14:23 to play. 

Randolph-Macon will take a brief hiatus for exams before returning to action on December 19th when it travels to Averett University for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off.
