SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Olivet College men's basketball team fell to Spring Arbor University, 72-61, this afternoon at the SAU Fieldhouse in Spring Arbor. The Cougars rallied from a 35-34 halftime deficit to pull out the victory.
Senior Michael McClary (Bellaire) paced Olivet with team-highs in points (23) and rebounds (eight). He made 10 baskets and three free throws for his 23 points. With the eight baskets, McClary needs only three more to become Olivet's career leader. He has 593 and the record is 595 by Jeff Bell from 1995-99.
Joining McClary in double figures in today's game was senior Nathan Jennings (Grant) who scored 15 points. Senior Joe Post (Olivet) dished out a team-leading three assists.
For Spring Arbor, Willie Pickvet and Chris Bellamy each posted a double-double. Pickvet led all scorers with 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Bellamy had 14 points and 11 rebounds. D.J. Baisden contributed 18 points.
Olivet will be back in action next Friday and Saturday, Dec. 17-18, at the Cruzin Classic in West Palm Beach, Fla. On Friday night, the Comets play St. Mary's (Md.) College at 5 p.m., and on Saturday, they play the host Northwood University Timberwolves at 7 p.m.
