CONWAY, Ark. (Dec. 3) -- Colorado College first year Ryan Milne made his presence in the league noticed as he scored 27 points, dished out nine assists and pulled down seven rebounds in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) opener. The Tigers cruised to a 68-48 victory over Hendrix College on Friday night at Grove Gymnasium.
Milne scored 16 of his points in the second half and finished the game 10-of-14 from the field and 3-of-3 from long range. Senior forward Brady Ohlsen also scored 15 points and grabbed nine boards to pace Colorado (4-2, 1-0 SCAC). The Warriors held the league's leading scorer from a year ago, Nick Rose, to just six points. The Tigers turned the ball over just seven times and scored 15 points off the Warriors' 17 turnovers.
Hendrix's (2-4, 0-1 SCAC) only lead came on the first basket of the game, a jumper from junior Nick Heathscott off an assist from sophomore Jaren Riley. The Tigers used a 14-1 run over a 4:13 span to earn a 20-6 advantage with 11:33 to play in the first half. Colorado took a 39-27 lead into the locker room.
The Tigers did not let up out of the break and eventually led by a game-high 22 points (55-33) with 14:29 left in regulation. Hendrix answered with a 10-0 run to cut its deficit to 12 points, unfortunately, that is as close as the Warriors would come.
Hendrix shot just 36.0 percent from the field and was just 8-of-17 from the charity stripe. Junior Chris Goodman was the only Warrior in double figures with 10 points. Junior Ammon Martin and Heathscott added nine points apiece. Martin and Riley both finished with four assists.
Hendrix will now look for its first SCAC win when they host Austin College on Sunday at 3 p.m. CT.
