Neville's big day leads Oles past SJU

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - Stu Neville had a career-best 28 points and Tucker Sheley 18 points as St. Olaf picked up a 72-64 MIAC men's basketball win over host Saint John's University on Saturday afternoon.

Neville went 11-of-14 from the floor and added seven rebounds as the Oles (6-0, 1-0 MIAC) won their MIAC opener for the first time since 2005-06.

Saint John's (4-2, 0-1 MIAC) had four players in double figures in the loss, led by 13 each from Sam Blank and Nermin Hujdurovic.

The Johnnies led by one, 36-35 at halftime, and by as many as seven in the second half. St. Olaf scored five straight, capped by a Connor Gunderson three-pointer, inside the final three minutes to gain a 65-58 advantage with 1:51 left.

St. Olaf, which missed four straight free throws inside the final 40 seconds, outrebounded SJU 32-24 in the win.

The Oles play at Gustavus Adolphus College on Monday.
