Thomas Wins Big Behind 31 Points From DeVaughn, 113-67

The Thomas College Terriers men's basketball team were back on the court this evening to face the Owls of the University of Maine at Presque Isle. The Owls came into the game with a 0-4 record while Thomas is 0-3 this season. Thomas was able to claim their first victory of the season with a 113-67 win.

The first half saw the Terriers take the lead behind Jarrad DeVaughn's (Brockton, MA) 16 points. Thomas was able to outscore the Owls' bench by a margin of 19-6 which gave them a 52-31 halftime lead. For UMPI, Clifford McDonald led the team with scoring with 9 points in the half while also grabbing 7 rebounds.

Thomas was able to breakdown UMPI's zone defense in the first half while shooting 38% from the field. The Terriers were also connecting on their free-throw shooting (70%). The Owls were ice cold shooting three point shots in the first half going 1-11 (9%).

In the second half, the Terriers did not let up on the scoring with 61 points. DeVaughn would continue to score with ease dropping 31 points. Andrew Duncanson (Portland, ME) was able to contribute to tonight's win with 21 points of his own.

For UMPI, McDonald led their players with 21 points and 11 rebounds. The Owls committed 33 turnovers while Thomas only committed 12.

The Terriers (1-3, 0-0 NAC) will travel to Saratoga Springs, NY this Saturday December 4, 2010 to play in a weekend tournament hosted by Skidmore (NY); their first game will be against Utica.
