Guilford Stops N.C. Wesleyan, 64-47

GREENSBORO, N.C. –Sophomore Travis Tracy (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg Day) scored a career- and game-high 13 points in Guilford College's 64-47 men's basketball victory over visiting North Carolina Wesleyan College Wednesday night.

The Quakers (4-2) held the Battling Bishops (3-4) to 28.3 percent field-goal shooting for the game and forced 20 turnovers, which led to 27 Quakers' points. Guilford converted 10 first-half turnovers into 18 points, which helped the Quakers open a 36-18 halftime lead. North Carolina Wesleyan trimmed the deficit to 11 points with 2:30 remaining, but drew no closer.

Guilford's Josh Pittman (Archdale, N.C./Trinity) finished with 10 points and teammate T.C. Anderson (Morrisville, N.C./Green Hope) chipped in with eight points. The senior's 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals were all game highs. Senior Martin Stephenson (Cary, N.C./Cary) finished with eight points and seven boards.

Junior Matt Dougherty (Ayden, N.C./Ayden-Grifton) made a game-high three three-pointers on the way to a team-high 12 points. Classmate Domarius Thomas (Raleigh, N.C./Southeast Raleigh) also made three trifectas and finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Guilford opens Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play Saturday (12/4) at Bridgewater College.
