BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore forward Corey Therriault (Auburn, Maine) scored 15 points while junior guard Adam Dombrowski (Dunstable, Mass.) came off the bench to score 11 as the Wentworth men's basketball team earned its first win of the 2010-2011 season with a 61-48 win over Coast Guard in a non-conference contest played at Tansey Gymnasium.

The host Leopards took a 7-6 lead with 15:20 left in the first half on a layup by senior forward Sam Herrick (Duxbury, Mass.).  Wentworth would use a 9-3 spurt late in the first half to take a 27-17 lead and held a 29-21 lead at the break.

Wentworth went on a 9-2 run to open the second half – with all points coming by way of three pointers as Herrick buried one as the shot clock expired and Dombrowski and Therriault drained back to back long-range shots.

After Wentworth built a 48-30 lead on a three by Dombrowski, the Bears scored the next seven points to come within 11 at 48-37 with 6:25 remaining.  That could be as close as Coast Guard would come as the Leopards pulled away by scoring the next 11 points to take a 59-37 lead with 3:47 remaining.

Herrick and junior guard Eric Prue (Auburn, Maine) each added nine for the Leopards, while Herrick also pulled down eight rebounds.  Senior guard Keenan Burke-Pitts (Auburn, Mass.) had eight assists.  Wentworth held a 38-26 rebounding advantage and shot 56.5 percent in the second half.

Sophomore Jimmy Knudsen (Ridge, N.Y.) led Coast Guard with 10 points, while classmate Greg Marshall (Gaithersburg, Md.) and freshman guard Devonte Weems (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) each added nine.  Weems also chipped in with seven rebounds and four assists.

With the win, Wentworth snaps a six-game losing streak, dating back to last season and stands at 1-4.  The Leopards host Lesley on Saturday.  Coast Guard falls to 3-3 and plays Medgar Evers in the Cadet/Camel Classic on Friday at neighboring Connecticut College.
