WAVERLY – Wartburg College put three players in double figures during a 100-83 loss to Grinnell College of the Midwest Conference Nov. 27.
The Knights, dipping to 3-2, held the lead for nearly eight minutes in the first half. The visiting Pioneers took off on a 39-24 surge to the close the half for a 56-43 halftime lead. Coach Dick Peth's squad kept it close throughout the second stanza, cutting it to single digits twice, but couldn't edge closer than nine.
Junior forward Jordan Sathoff of Packwood continued his impressive beginning with 16 points, seven rebounds, two blocked shots and a steal. Junior forward Cole Danielson of Marshalltown added 13 points and five assists, while junior forward Kirk Sidey of Greenfield tossed in 11 points and grabbed six boards.
The Pioneers' Matt Skelly helped lead them to their fourth win in as many games with 16 points. He also canned four three-pointers and brought down five rebounds.
Wartburg begins 2010-11 Iowa Conference action Wednesday, Dec. 1. Tip-off is 8 p.m. inside Levick Arena against Cornell College of Mount Vernon.
