Greensboro, N.C. -- Thomas Coleman had 14 points and ten rebounds as North Carolina A&T defeated Greensboro College, 79-58, at the Corbett Center on Friday night. Freshman Damian Dixon scored a game-high 19 points for The Pride.
Dixon was 7-12 from the field and made three baskets from beyond the arc. Luqman Tijani (Greensboro, NC/Page ) added nine points and Daren Dexter had a team-best six rebounds for GC.
A&T improved to 3-3 and GC dropped to 2-3. The Aggies led at halftime, 43--23.
"We played hard and much better in the second half," said GC Head Coach Bryan Galuski. "I am glad our guys hung in there against a taller and faster DI opponent."
The meeting was the first between Gate City colleges. GC started playing men's hoops in 1966, North Carolina A&T in '52.
DeMetrius Upchurch added 12 points for the Agges. A&T shot 48-percent (30-63) to 32-percent (23-71) for The Pride. GC lost the battle of the boards, 46-21.
GC next plays at Piedmont College on Wednesday night.
