The Wheaton men's basketball team tops Loras College 79-63

Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton Thunder men's basketball team extended its win streak to three games with a 79-63 victory against Loras College on Tuesday night in King Arena. Wheaton is now 3-1 on the season, Loras falls to 0-3. Wheaton will return to action on December 1 at University of Chicago.

Loras led 20-18 with 11:32 remaining in the first half, but Wheaton put together a 25-5 run to take a 44-25 lead with 3:20 remaining in the first half. Senior guard Andrew Jahns scored 12 of Wheaton's 25 points in the run. The Thunder held a 49-30 lead at halftime. Wheaton led for the remainder of the contest. The hosts' largest lead of the game was by 21 points early in the second half. Loras cut its deficit to as little as 12 points at 69-57 with 6:15 remaining in the game, however, the Duhawks could not get any closer.

Jahns led the Thunder with 22 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. The senior captain also contributed a team-high six assists. All-American Tim McCrary scored 18 points, with 14 rebounds, five assists and two steals. Freshman Tyler Peters scored a career-best 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting in just his fourth collegiate game. Junior forward Spencer Schultze scored 13 points, with seven rebounds.

Jordan Harrelson led Loras with 11 points and nine rebounds. Connor Mooney scored 10 points, with six assists. Tim Kelly scored 10 points for the guests.

Wheaton shot 51.9% (27-52) from the field, including 64.3% (18-28) in the first half. The Thunder shot 42.9% (6-14) from three-point range and 70.4% (19-27) at the free throw line. Loras shot a 43.9% (25-57) field goal percentage, with 43.8% (7-16) from three-point range and 40% (6-15) at the charity stripe. Loras held a 34-33 rebounding advantage, with a 12-9 edge on the offensive glass. Wheaton out-scored the Duhawks 22-4 off of turnovers, as the guests committed 15 turnovers.
