WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Randolph College shot nearly 60 percent from the field in the second half to key an 80-64 non-conference men's basketball victory over Shenandoah Tuesday evening.

With the score tied at 34-34 at the break, Randolph (3-1) scorched the nets in the final 20 minutes, shooting 16 for 27 from the field to down the Hornets (1-3).

The WildCats shot nearly 51 percent for the game, (28 for 55, 50.9 percent) and had 44 of their 80 points come from inside the paint.

Shenandoah, which was seeking its first win over a future ODAC foe in three contests this season, went cold during this same stretch.

After making an even 50 percent of its shots (13 of 26) in the first, SU was 11 of 30 in the second (36.7 percent) as Randolph pulled away.

The 'Cats took the lead for good on a Pete Hamilton jumper with 12:56 to play, but seized complete control of the game on a 7-0 run from the 6:47 to 5:58 marks.

This spurt, which answered an Avery Green jumper to make it 59-56 RC, gave the visitors their first double-digit lead of the contest.

Shenandoah committed two turnovers and missed the front end of a one-and-one during this span as Randolph totally took control. From this point on, the visitors led by at least eight points the rest of the way and had a double-digit lead for all but 1:26.

Another run, this one 10-1 from the 3:10 to :59 second marks, effectively ended it. RC expanded its lead out to 17 points during this span as SU was able to convert just one shot from the field in the final three minutes.

Senior Brandon Bryan had 13 points and classmate Kevin Kline 10 for the host while the 'Cats had four players score in double-figures.

Colton Hunt and Mike Ehilegbu led this group with 14 each.

The Hornets host the 2010 South Region Shootout this weekend with play beginning on Saturday at 5 when N.C. Wesleyan takes on Mary Washington. SU plays Hampden-Sydney in the 7 p.m. game to complete the first day of the classic-format tournament. Shenandoah and NCWC will switch opponents for Sunday's games.
