LANCASTER, Pa. – James McNally scored a game-high 22 points to lead No. 7 Franklin & Marshall to an 84-57 victory over Washington College Tuesday evening. The Diplomats picked up their first Centennial Conference (CC) victory and start the season off 3-0 (1-0 CC).
McNally is 19 points away from 1,500 career points and looks to become just the second player in school history with 1,500 points and 700 rebounds. He finished the night shooting 8-for-11 from the stripe and pulled down seven boards.
F&M never trailed, but Washington (1-4, 0-1 CC) came within three points early in the contest before the Diplomats pulled away. F&M put together a 19-9 run spanning over eight minutes to take 26-12 edge with eight minutes remaining in the half.
The Diplomats built their lead to 47-29 going into the break. Georgio Milligan scored 13 of his 21 points in the opening stanza and shot 73% from floor to go along with six assists. He was just as solid on the defensive end, collecting five steal and four blocks.
In the second half, Washington did not get closer than 16 the entire half. Franklin & Marshall led by as many as 30 points with 5:57 to go in the contest.
Brandon Beckford chipped in 11 points and Max Brewer finished with 10.
Kevin Breslin had a team-best 13 points, while Adam Naymick added11 points for the Shoremen.
F&M outshot Washington 55% to 34% and scored 20 points off 23 turnovers.
Franklin & Marshall returns to action on Saturday when the Diplomats travel to No. 11 St. Mary's (Md.) for a 4:00 p.m. tip off.
