Balanced Attack Helps No. 2 R-MC to a 84-62 Win Over Shenandoah

GETTYSBURG, PA – The Randolph-Macon College Men's Basketball team used a balanced attack as the No. 2 Yellow Jackets scored an 84-62 win over Shenandoah in the opening round of the Gettysburg Tip-Off Tournament. 

R-MC improves to 2-0 on the season and will take on the host Bullets at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday in the tournament championship game.  SU drops to 0-2 on the year and will take on Penn-State Altoona in the consolation game of the tourney. 

Randolph-Macon made 29-of-58 (50.0%) shots from the floor in the win and featured three players in double-figures, led by Danny Jones, who tallied 16 points in just 14 minutes of action off the bench.  Calvin Croskey added 13 points, while Brandon Braxton added 12 on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor.

The Yellow Jackets got off to a good start, taking a 22-8 lead with just under 10 minutes to go in the opening half.  That lead  would continue to grow during the remainder of the half, reaching 25 points when Braxton converted a layup with 17 seconds to go in the half. 

R-MC took, which shot 69.7% in the first half, took  a 50-26 to lead into the locker room and then opened the second half with a  20-5 run in the opening 10 minutes, taking a 70-31 advantage on a three-pointer by Croskey.

The Randolph-Macon bench outscored the SU subs 39-10, while R-MC held a 45-33 edge on the boards.

Shenandoah was led by Kevin Kline with 17 points on the night, while Dominic Chappell had 16 and Mitch Dudley had 13.
