DOVER, Del. - Wesley's Paul Reynolds (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna), the reigning CAC Rookie of the Year, picked up where he left off last year, hitting 15-of-18 field goals on his way to 32 points in a 94-67 Wolverine victory over visiting Washington in the season opener.
The sophomore led five Wesley players in double figures and added a team-high eight rebounds to go along with a block and two steals.
Rudy Thomas (Milton, Del./Sussex Tech) poured in 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting and chipped in with five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Chris Douglas (Landover, Md./Jericho Prep Academy) hit 5-of-7 field goals on his way to 11 points.
A pair of players making their Wesley debuts also had big games. Kyan Andrews (Seaford, Del./Woodbridge) scored a dozen points, grabbed six boards and led the team with four steals. Darrell Johnson (New Castle, Del./Howard) added 10 points and seven rebounds.
The Wolverines jumped ahead 16-6 to start the game and led 54-31 at the half behind 65 percent shooting from the floor.
In the second half, Wesley held the Shoremen to just 35 percent shooting to put the game away. Andrews gave the team its biggest lead of the game on a fast break dunk with eight minutes left that stretched the lead to 83-49.
The Wolverines hit the road this weekend for the 2010 Roger Taylor Invitational. Wesley plays 12th ranked Virginia Wesleyan on November 19, followed by a tilt against North Carolina Wesleyan on November 20.
