Mass-Dartmouth and Elizabethtown rode strong fourth quarters to upset victories on the road while No. 19 Baldwin Wallace outlasted No. 23 Trine at home in overtime in Wednesday night’s Division III women’s basketball action. In men's action, Guilford survived a buzzer beater against crosstown rival Greensboro at the Greensboro Coliseum.

After a back-and-forth battle through regulation, No. 19 Baldwin Wallace grabbed control in overtime and defeated No. 23 Trine, 72-63.
The game featured 14 ties and 16 lead changes, with neither team able to gain a lead more than three points in the fourth quarter. Then, the Yellow Jackets scored the first seven points of the extra period, capped by Maddie Ebbert’s three-point play. Trine’s Sierra Hinds hit a three to stop the BW run, but Caely Ressler responded with a three and Bella Vaillant added a layup to put the game out of reach..
Vaillant posted a double-double (19 points, 12 rebounds) for Baldwin Wallace (3-1) which outrebounded Trine, 46-20.
Mass-Dartmouth caught fire in the fourth quarter and the Corsairs knocked off No. 14 Smith for the second consecutive season, this time by a score of 63-60.
After scoring 37 points through three quarters, Mass-Dartmouth erupted for 26 points in the final period on 8-for-10 shooting with two threes. The Corsairs also went 8-for-10 from the foul line and survived a potential game-tying three at the buzzer.
Teja Andrews scored 17 points for Mass-Dartmouth (3-0), which overcame 18 turnovers and 4-for-20 shooting from three.
Elizabethtown went up big, fell behind in the fourth, and then finished off No. 16 Catholic, 73-69, in both teams’ conference opener.
Elizabethtown held the home-standing Cardinals to six points on 2-for-17 shooting in the first quarter and surged to a 20-6 lead. Catholic chipped away at the Blue Jays’ lead and went in front 48-47 on Kerry Flaherty’s jumper late in the fourth.
Elizabethtown regained control with a 9-0 run early in the fourth quarter. The Cardinals pulled within two on Keegan Douglas’ layup with 49 seconds remaining and Catholic stole the ball on the ensuing Blue Jays’ possession. Catholic had three shots to tie the game but missed them all. Elizabethtown regained possession and Ella Gordon sealed the win with two free throws.
DaniRae Renno scored 17 points and Jess King grabbed 23 rebounds for Elizabethtown (3-1, 1-0 Landmark), which won the rebounding battle, 50-38. Anna Scoblick piled up 20 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and four steals for Catholic (3-1, 0-1 Landmark).
On the men's side, No. 17 Guilford survived a scare against crosstown rival Greensboro at the Greensboro Coliseum, and the Quakers hung on for a 59-58 win.
Isaiah Pruett gave Greensboro a 56-54 lead on Guilford with four minutes to play and the Pride looking for their first win of the season. Gabe Proctor responded with a three-point play that put the Quakers in front 57-56 and then neither team scored much the rest of the way. Nick Farrar's layup extended Guilford's advantage to 59-56 and Grant Thompson's hook shot pulled Greensboro back within one point.
The Pride had the ball and a chance to win with 8.5 seconds remaining but Pruett's three-pointer hit the front rim and the Quakers batted the ball toward center court. Guilford's Luke Proctor grabbed the ball and hoisted it out of bounds to run out the clock. The officials ruled that it went out of bounds with less than a second left for Greensboro, which got the ball to Zephaniah Hones. He drained a deep three pointer but he released the shot after the buzzer sounded.
Elsewhere, Hudson Hansen scored 23 points on 10 for 13 shooting and No. 25 Williams staved off SUNY Oneonta, 74-69. The Ephs shot 7-for-12 from three and improved to 2-0 ahead of its matchups with Castleton and No. 10 Keene State.
Conference play opened in the Landmark where favorites Susquehanna and Catholic posted comfortable wins over Goucher and Elizabethtown respectively. Lycoming scored a 73-72 overtime victory at home over Juniata while Wilkes dumped rival Scranton, 58-48. In Upstate New York, Ithaca overcame an 18-point deficit and knocked off defending Empire 8 champion Utica, 82-78.
