Three years ago, Aaron Toomey left Amherst College and New England when his alma mater went another direction in its search for a new head men’s basketball coach.
This summer, Toomey will return to New England and lead the University of Hartford as it continues its transition from Division I to Division III athletics. He spoke with us about his journey from New England and back again in our latest Around the Nation podcast.
“I thought I was ready (to be a head coach) then, and I think I would’ve been ready then. But I think the last three years has really helped me as a coach in terms of the being ready for the full-time gig here at Hartford.”
