Birmingham-Southern's 112 was also the highest score by a team which lost in regulation.

The box score is worth a look. Individually, sophomore forward Hope Franklin set a school record with 41 points and finished one shy of the record with 20 rebounds. Livia Skinner delivered a cool 37 points on 17-of-24 shooting. Her 17 field goals made is a new program record. Franklin tied the previous record of 14.

Nakiyah Washington finished a rebound shy of a double-double, pouring in 25 points to go with nine rebounds while freshman guard Lu Woolfolk nearly produced a triple-double, scoring 10 points, dishing out 10 assists and grabbing eight rebounds.

The pace was fast and furious from the opening tip as Franklin scored her first field goal just six seconds into the contest. The Panthers used an 8-0 run midway through the opening period to gain the early edge and led by as many as nine points before the Lady Lions closed the gap to 39-36 heading to the second.

Piedmont was able to grab the lead back early in the second quarter and led for much of the period taking a 63-60 advantage into halftime.

BSC held within striking distance out of the break but the Lady Lions began to gain control of the contest midway through the third. PC was able to take its first double-digit lead of the afternoon on a Skinner jumper with 5:15 left in the period as the lead grew to as many as 20 points late in the third. The Lady Lions reached the 100-point mark with 1:17 left in the third quarter and took a 101-83 lead with 10 minutes remaining.

The final result was never in doubt throughout the final quarter with Piedmont holding a comfortable margin. The Lady Lions continually took advantage of the Panthers' full-court press and finished at a high rate inside the paint to run away with the win and set numerous program record in the process.

PC scored an astounding 100 points in the paint and reached its 138-point total without the benefit of a single 3-pointer.

Brooke Westhoelter made six 3-pointers en route to a team-high 24 points for Birmingham-Southern, which gave 15 players between eight and 16 minutes of playing time. Josie Wannemuehler and Charlton Kelley earned double-figures for the second consecutive game, finishing with 13 and 11 points, respectively.  Westhoelter and Kelley led the team in rebounds. And Alex Lewis earned a team-high seven assists.
