Albright and Bethel protected their unbeaten records in similar fashion on Wednesday night, as both took double-digit leads to the fourth quarter and then had to rally late to win the game. Meanwhile Illinois Wesleyan and St. Vincent asserted themselves in their conference races

No. 23 Bethel entered the fourth quarter with a 12-point lead, went cold from the field and then heated up enough to beat No. 11 Augsburg, 74-70. Trailing by 12 entering the fourth quarter, the Auggies held Bethel without a field goal for the first six minutes of the final quarter and briefly took the lead, 65-64, on two free throws by Camryn Speese. The game swung when Bethel broke a 66-all tie with four quick points. After Elizabeth Schwarz scored to give the Royals the lead, Augsburg turned the ball over on the inbounds pass and Haylee Barker extended the lead to 70-66.

Schwarz paced Bethel (12-0, 7-0 MIAC) with 15 points and eight rebounds in a physical game where the teams combined for 56 fouls and 64 free throw attempts. Kaezha Wubben scored 18 points for the Auggies (10-2, 6-1).

The Royals face another test on Saturday when they host No. 17 Gustavus Adolphus, which handled St. Mary's (Minn.), 82-65.

Albright built a big lead, watched Lycoming mount a furious comeback and then won the game in overtime, 92-88. The Lions (14-0, 5-0 MAC Commonwealth) had a 47-31 lead at the half and maintained that 16-point advantage into the fourth quarter. Akiliah McFadden's 3-pointer keyed an 11-1 run that pulled Lycoming within 70-66, and the Warriors pulled even at 74 on Morgan Mader's three with 2:32 to play in regulation.

Lycoming looked like it was poised for the upset when Erica Lutz's layup extended the Warriors' lead to 80-76 with 33 seconds left in the fourth. But Albright answered with a three-point play from Abby Gaffney and, after Lycoming split a pair of free throws, Dejah Terrell made two for Albright to send the game to overtime tied at 81. Terrell scored six more points in overtime for the Lions, giving her 31 for the game to go with 12 rebounds.

Albright also gets a big test at home on Saturday when the Lions host Widener. The Pride (12-1, 4-0 MAC Commonwealth) got back on track following Saturday's lop-sided loss to Amherst by defeating No. 24 Messiah, 75-62. Widener's Devan Rimmer led all scorers with 21 points. Messiah has lost three straight after starting the season 9-1.
