Geneva College named Michael Grinder as its new head women's basketball coach, replacing Lori Wynn who stepped down from the position.

"Coach Grinder is a no-nonsense guy that has a competitive edge that we feel confident will translate in helping take our women's basketball program to a new level," athletic director Van Zanic said in the school's news release. "He is familiar with Geneva College and its mission and has a deep love for Christ that is central to everything he is about as a coach."
Grinder comes to Beaver Falls from Pitt-Titusville where he coached the Panthers' men's and women's basketball teams last season. He coached the women's team for four seasons and the men's team for two seasons. Pitt-Titusville is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) that has only three varsity sports -- the two Grinder coached, plus women's volleyball.
"It is an honor to represent the community of Geneva College and be able to guide these young women on their journeys of faith," said Grinder. "I look forward to the road ahead, working with the players, and making the Golden Tornados into a must-see women's basketball program."
Grinder replaces Lori Wynn who announced during the 2018-19 season that it would be her last. Wynn spent 21 years as a head coach with stops at Grace College, Nyack College, Malone and then Geneva where she started in 2011. She missed the 2016-17 season because of surgery and treatment for ovarian cancer and then returned for the 2017-18 season.
Geneva went 4-20, 2-14 in the PAC last season.
